TEXNIC® X SUNGERMONE

Hands that bridge technology and form

The collaboration between TEXNIC® and artist Jumwon Sun was an experimental attempt to redefine boundaries and pose new questions at the intersection of technology and art, industry and creation.

In this project, Jumwon Sun focused on the firm texture and structural properties of TEXNIC® fabric.

“When I first encountered TEXNIC® fabric, I felt a structural strength unlike that of ordinary textiles. It wasn’t simply a soft, flowing cloth — it was a material capable of embodying sculptural ideas.”

Starting from this impression, Jumwon Sun created a work that unites a shoe and a hand as a single, seamless form.
The shoe symbolizes movement and progress, while the hand represents creation and connection.
By merging these two elements, the work intuitively conveys the message that TEXNIC®’s technology and the artist’s imagination come together to generate new value.

This piece, which resembles technology and art holding each other and taking a step forward together, invites viewers to engage with a new, sensory question.

A new interpretation of material, and a sense of responsibility

In this collaboration, artist Jumwon Sun did not stop at merely experimenting with external forms.

“While I resonated with TEXNIC®’s environmental values, what personally intrigued me even more was the material’s unique structural qualities. As someone who has consistently worked on three-dimensional and structural pieces, I found TEXNIC® fabric — which maintains form yet allows for free transformation — to be an incredibly fascinating material.”

Throughout the creative process, the artist conducted extensive experiments and research to fully explore the fabric’s structural possibilities. At the same time, the project minimized surplus materials and reduced unnecessary exhibition components, actively practicing sustainability.

The artist remarked, “I believe that my work should not end with visual achievement alone but also carry a sense of environmental responsibility.”

The interaction between technology and art

Through this collaboration, artist Jumwon Sun took a step beyond his existing creative approach, exploring how technology and art can interact and generate synergy.

“TEXNIC® is a material rooted in an industrial background, but when combined with artistic imagination, it can be transformed into an entirely new language. This collaboration was more than just the completion of a single piece — it was an opportunity to rediscover new creative methods and philosophies.”

The project between Jumwon Sun and TEXNIC® was completed at the intersection where technology and form, industry and art, creation and responsibility converge.

As a result, this work goes beyond being a mere object. It becomes a response to how creators should engage with society and the environment, and how technology and materials can be reinterpreted within art.

A new form of possibility created together

Although TEXNIC® and artist Jumwon Sun come from different worlds, they met at the point where technology and art intersect.
This collaboration is another example of TEXNIC®’s “Break the Norm” spirit interpreted through art, prompting us to reconsider our assumptions about creation, materials, and the underlying values behind them.

TEXNIC® will continue to push the boundaries between technology and art by collaborating with creators from diverse fields.
The collaboration with Jumwon Sun stands as an important milestone in this ongoing journey.
